Brembo Presents New Brake Caliper Design For Supercars | Carscoops

Brembo just unveiled what they call an “aesthetically revolutionary” brake caliper for high performance cars at the 2018 NY Auto Show.

The braking systems manufacturer achieved significant weight savings with this new design, specifically 400 grams per wheel. This, according to Brembo, allows it to have the best weight-to-stiffness ratio ever for a cast aluminum caliper: compared to other calipers with the same stiffness, this is 8% lighter.

In order to build it, Brembo implemented the use of topology optimization, a software tool that allows engineers to simulate the stiffness of a component and identify excess material. The result of this process is a new geometry for optimized performance. At the same time, drawing from over 45 years of motorsport experience also helped with the geometry and mass reduction.

Visually, aside from looking like a Batarang (Batman’s weapon of choice), the new caliper features minimized curves and material reduction in the piston area, which is part of the reason why Pagani chose it for its 720 HP Huayra supercar.

Brembo also says that the new caliper can be matched perfectly to the shape and colors of exclusive models, while also doing a better job at stopping these high-power exotics.

Prospective customers moved even faster than the wide-body convertible, which can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and top 200 mph.

We now have additional info on motor configuration, charging time, performance, and more.

Certain Ford F-150 models were wrongly built with underbody insulators that may loosen and contact the driveshaft.

The automaker offers more than 44,000 paint colors along with finishes that incorporate precious materials.

The one-off model features airbrushed veneer panels that celebrate Mulliner.

Just like the first 911 RS 2.7, the special edition will be available in Pure White with Python Green accents.

The carbon-bodied Ruf Bergmeister is fitted with a tuned air-cooled turbo 3.6-liter flat-six producing 444 hp.

McLaren plans to build just 25 units of the single-seater, track-only hypercar.

Acura will also offer a ZDX Type S.

The Carmel Edition features an SV Bespoke interior with contrasting leather and white ceramic trim.
